With incredible force comes extraordinary duty. Numerous individuals have incredible force, yet will in general maltreatment it. A typical case of this maltreatment is utilizing individuals underneath ones position to do the majority of the work, or coerce them. At that point there are the individuals who use power cautiously while not manhandling them. In the novel â€Å"One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest† by Ken Kesey, McMurphy eventually wins the force battle with Nurse Ratched which prompts the patients recuperation, her loss of command over the ward, and Nurse Ratched’s battle for power. Before McMurphy showed up at the ward, Nurse Ratched had total strength over the patients. They did precisely what she stated, no inquiries posed. She kept them there by causing them to feel uncertain and unfit for society. Medical attendant Ratched had a logbook arrangement that seemed, by all accounts, to be valuable to the patients. As a general rule, the logbook was a strategy for Nurse Ratched to accumulate data which would be utilized against the patients for sending them to the primary structure. Now and then one man says something regarding himself that he didn’t intend to neglect, to get enough proof to have some person reconditioned† (Kesey, 15). Attendant Ratched is misusing the patients by making them betray each other, they don't understand this as they are blinded by the way that they get compensated. The person that composed the snippet of data in the log book, he gets a star by his name†¦and gets the chance to rest late the following day. † (Kesey,15). They urgently need the prize, to feel a tiny smidgen of solace, because of the lock of opportunity they get in the ward. After McMurphy showed up at the ward, he saw that the majority of the patients were not intellectually sick, and had no motivation to be there. â€Å"I can comprehend it with a portion of those old folks on the ward. They’re nuts. Be that as it may, you, you’re not actually the ordinary man in the city, yet you’re not nuts. † (Kesey, 195). The vast majority of the men had lost their characters, certainty, guts which made them regard themselves unfit to return into society. â€Å"You could get along outside on the off chance that you had the guts†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Sure! †Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ If we had the g-guts. † (Kesey, 195). The men had been depleted of all they had by Nurse Ratched, they don't had anything left. So as to enable them to recover what they had been deprived of, McMurphy took them on an angling trip. The angling trip gave them some time outside of the organization, they were allowed to do anything they desired realizing they were ot being viewed, or within the sight of Nurse Ratched. The angling trip was remedial to the patients, as it showed them a touch of how to manage the outside world. â€Å"We were three coats short, and there was a complain as to who’d be th e three that overcame that bar without coats. †¦ Everybody was somewhat astounded that Billy had chipped in, ended his life coat off immediately when we discovered we were short, and helped the young lady into it. † (Kesey, 252). Before McMurphy came the ward, Billy could never have chipped in for anything. He would not have the certainty to stand out of the group. Billy transcending the group is an away from of the positive impact McMurphy had on the ward. They figure out how to determine their own issues, and consider themselves to be men. This gives them an enormous positive effect on their certainty. Gradually, they begin to acknowledge they have substantiated themselves to the outside world. At end of the angling trip, they show everybody their enormous gets, and are pleased with what they did. The men in the end recover their certainty and their back to how they were the point at which they originally joined the ward if worse. During the gathering McMurphy was tossing for his last day, a large portion of the men had their certainty back, Billy Bibbit additionally lost his falter in the wake of losing his virginity. The patients talked about leaving the emergency clinic following a couple of more weeks, while toward the start of the books they had no guts to leave. This additionally shows they no longer dread Nurse Ratched. Toward the start of the novel, the ward had unlimited oversight over the patients. The guidelines that were implemented would run the patients lives, for example, the day by day schedule everybody needed to follow, toothpaste bolted away, and boisterous music. They didn't get any state in what they needed. As the novel advanced, Nurse Ratched continuously lost control. †We can see the nurse’s face get red and her mouth fill in as she gazes at him, everybody’s watching what she’s going to doâ€even the dark young men and the little nurses†¦she flips a switch and the TV picture whirls once again into the gray†¦Ã¢â‚¬ You’re submitted, you understand. You are †¦ under the locale of me†Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ Mr. Harding! You come back to your†¦Ã¢â‚¬ Mr. Har-ding! †Ã¢â‚¬ ¦Ã¢â‚¬ You menâ€Stop this. Stop! † We’re all sitting there†¦and she’s fuming and shouting behind us. † (Kesey, 143-144). This is the main episode Nurse Ratched had no influence over the patients in the ward. In her enraged mindset, she suspends benefits trying to show her position once more, and starts proportioning cigarettes. That didn't help much as the men despite everything question her position and her control goes downhill from here as there isn't a lot of she can do any longer. When McMurphy set foot in the clinic, she realized he was a danger to her by the manner in which he acted. She attempts one of her old strategies and attempts to mortify McMurphy by calling him â€Å"Mr. McMurry† (Kessey, 25). She sees McMurphy as a danger from the earliest starting point as can be seen by what she stated, â€Å"That is actually what the new patient is arranging: to dominate. He is the thing that we call a ‘manipulator’. (Kessey, 27). His first endeavor at changing Nurse Ratched delicate framework was to change the everyday practice, except he didn't have any backings. He required a group to make changes to the spot, as Nurse Ratched required a dominant part vote, so McMurphy made a wager with the ward individuals, to drive her off the seat, without her having any control over him. He resists ward arrangements, for example, cleaning up when they were not allowed, and brushing his teeth. At the point when Nurse Ratched showed up to work that day, she went crazy yet remained quiet about it. Another episode was the point at which he asserted somebody took his garments, and he removes his towel just to see whale shorts. â€Å"She shuts her eyes and focuses. She can't have them see her face this way, white and wrapped with fierceness. She utilizes all the intensity of control that is in her. Slowly the lips assemble again under the little white nose, run together, similar to the red-have wire had got hot enough to melt† (Kesey, 99-10). This was a significant episode that lead to her tumble from the seat, she was unable to deal with all the difficulty McMurphy was causing. Another moment that he likewise separated her was the point at which they were watching the clear TV envisioning the World Series. She was totally defenseless as, nobody would hear her out. She figured she could close him down unequivocally when she discloses to McMurphy he is submitted, yet he recovers himself by breaking the window not once, yet twice. At long last, McMurphy’s last act was gagging, and uncovering Nurse Ratched’s shortcoming, he stripped her of her garments, and presented her chest to everybody, which she made a decent attempt to disguise from everybody all through the novel. This totally separated Nurse Ratched, and in retribution, she lobotomized McMurphy. She may have disposed of him, however he prevailing with regards to pulverizing the framework, and losing her the seat. As a great many people left the Ward from that point onward, or moved, McMurphy might be gone, yet his work will frequent her eternity. Taking everything into account, Nurse Ratched has lost her capacity always, as she has no influence over the establishment or authority left, in return for McMurphy’s life, and the opportunity of a considerable lot of the wards patients. The patient’s recuperation prompts the loss of Nurse Ratched’s control, which caused Nurse Ratched to battle for power. At long last, she didn't win by disposing of McMurphy, as he debilitated the force she had over individuals until the end of time. As William Edward Hickson stated, â€Å"If from the start you don't succeed, attempt, attempt again†. McMurphy was an ideal portrayal of this objective, he propped up against Nurse Ratched to separate her. One ought to consistently continue attempting to accomplish their objective, not many succeed the first run through. Works Cited Kesey, Ken. One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. Penguin Edition. The Rio Grande Valley (Rgv) Is Growing Economically. There

The Rio Grande Valley (RGV) is growing economically. There has been an increase in new businesses, especially in cities like McAllen, Edinburg, and Pharr. As stated on EconomicsHelp, the main factors that increase economic growth are an increase in aggregate demand and aggregate supply. Thus, a business will succeed in the Rio Grande valley by analyzing the community’s supply and demand. I lived in front of La Plaza Mall for about 8 years. I noticed the La Plaza Mall has a lot of customers from Mexico. A lot of the Mexican customers seem to be attracted by the clothing and buy in abundance. Moreover, the community indeed has increased their demand for clothing. An example is Black Friday. Traffic worsens, and people camp outside†¦show more content†¦Moreover, these skilled people may not have a high school diploma, however, getting a certification for credentials in their work would be less costly than having to go to a technique school to learn the skills. By employing the unemployed skilled people from the community, the local economy may improve over time. In other words, the skilled workers will have more discretionary money to spend in other local businesses. Supplies to make clothing is abundantly available in or near the RGV. Apparel supplies may be sourced from downtown fabric stores in McAllen or Mexico. Regarding infrastructure, surprisingly, it is a lot less costly to start a business in the RGV than in any other city. The Valley is economically expanding and buying a location for a boutique now will be a great investment for the future. Personally, I believe the Rio Grande Valley may become a destination place for tourist like San Antonio or Austin. Therefore, the high demand stylish and quality produced clothing proves that a boutique that sells eco-friendly and ethically produced clothing may succeed in the RGV. The clothing boutique that sells quality clothing is an example of monopolistic competition. Being in the monopolistic competition market means that the boutique offer a differentiated product, in this case being eco-friendly and ethically produced clothing, and competition is high. As a new business, the clothing boutique should start out small and slowly grow over time. A

Engineering Project Preparation Global Manufacturing Market

Question: Discuss about the Engineering Project Preparation for Global Manufacturing Market. Answer: Introduction This project is developed in order to improve the production process of the photocopy machine manufacturing company Xerox. The purpose of this project is to reduce the inventory defects that the company is facing presently. In addition, in this project, it has been discussed how the company can use different tools and techniques such as Six Sigma and lean management to reduce various types of wastes such as time over production. As Zaman and Lehmann (2013) stated that, there are mainly eight types of wastes can be found in the manufacturing industry, overproduction, delay of production, inefficient utilization of skills, inefficient transportation, ineffective inventory, unnecessary movement of products and excess processing. Depending on the type of wastes that the company Xerox is facing appropriate process design plan has been developed. All theoretical models have been discussed which are needed to implement in a different stage of the process. Finally, a Gantt chart has been giv en to conduct the project plan within specified period. Literature Review There are various research works developed by researchers previously. Kidde et al. (2013) had developed a study to provide an overview of electronic waste management approaches. It has been found from this study that, electronic waste is one of the fastest growing pollution related issues globally. There are various types of toxic substances are present in e-waste which can threaten the human health. There is table given below in order to find out the quantity of e-waste produced by manufacturing industries of different countries such as Japan, China, and the USA. Years Name of the country Type of products Quantity of Waste (million) Classification of wastes 2010 Japan Computers 610 e-waste Since 2003 China Computers and TV 500 New products 1997-2007 The United States of America Computers 15 e-waste Figure 1: Comparison between the amount of e-waste produced by three countries (Source: Kiddee et al. 2013) It has been found from this research work that there are mainly two methods used to dispose of e-waste. They are such as incineration and landfill. As Kiddee Naidu and Wong (2013) mentioned that, landfill can potentially transport toxic substances into groundwater. On the other hand combustion in an incinerator emits toxic gasses in the air. Recycling of e-waste can distribute hazardous substances in the environment. There are various tools can be used by manufacturing industries such as Multi-Criteria Analysis, Material flow analysis and Life Cycle Assessment can be used to control e-waste. In another research work developed by Agus et al. (2012), it has been found that approaches such as lean production supply chain can help to improve product quality and business performance of an organization. This study has been developed in Malaysian manufacturing industries. It has been found that implementing efficient lean production SCM can help the companies in Malaysia to improve their business performance. Production managers of different organizations can gain adequate knowledge about lean management as this study suggests some factors that needed to be emphasized in lean production. Conger (2015) had developed a study to indicate the importance of Six Sigma model in business process management. As Conger (2015) stated that, six-sigma process can help to eliminate all unnecessary steps from a business process. It has been found that the mobile manufacturing company Motorola has implemented six sigma models effectively. It has reduced the production of faulty product from 9.3 defects per million to 3.4 defects per million (Seuring 2013). Effective implementation of Six Sigma model helps the company to increase efficiency of Motorola from 99.95% to 99.9997% (Conger 2015). After analyzing all these previously done research works, it has been found that the first step of process management is to understand the process. It includes points such as stages of the process, product measures and errors related with the process. Depending on these factors, waste management efficient business operation procedure needs to be developed. It includes tool such as six sigma and le an management. Research questions aim and sub-goals Research questions What is the business process used by the organization Xerox? What are the major faults that the organization is facing in its business process? How different business management tools canbe implemented to improve the business process of the organization? Research aim The principal aim of this research work is to find out how an organization can apply various tools such as six sigma and lean management in order to improve faults of the business process. The subgoal of this research work is to find out the issues that the organization Xerox is facing in its business operation. Theoretical Content Research Hypothesis H0: Implementation of various operation management tools has little impact on the business operation of an organization H1: Implementation of various operation management tools has high impact on the business operation of an organization The business operation of an organization can be divided into two different types. They are such as designing of the product or service development process and design of the production process. As Yeheyis et al. (2013) mentioned that there are some mandatory criteria that the product or service development process of an organization needs to follow. They are such as attractiveness, reliability, user-friendliness and environmental friendliness. The company Xerox was founded in the year of 1960 (Seuring 2013). However, during the 1970s, the total productivity of the company was reduced by 20% due to increase competition in the market (Agus et al. 2012). Most of the Japanese companies concentrate on the high quality of production and low volume copiers. It has been found that due to unnecessary business process the production cycle time of the company is 2 times more than its competitors such as Kodak (Hajmohammad et al. 2013). Moreover, the company has ten times more rejection rate and 7 times manufacturing defects than its competitors (Kreimeier et al. 2014). For this reason, the market share of the organization had fallen more than 50%. Hence, it has become necessary to implement change in the product and service development procedure of the organization. The company should implement changes in various areas such as product planning, distribution, development of unit objectives and focus on customers. There are five major s teps can be applied to improve the product and service development process of the organization. They are such as idea generation, idea screening, preliminary design, review of the design and final review (Fullerton et al. 2013). There are various techniques can be implemented by the organization for effective idea generation. They are such as Brainstorming, min mapping, lateral thinking and Delphi Method. Experimental Set-up In this section,an experimental set-up has been developed to implement Six Sigma model so that operation management of the organization can be improved. As Yeheyis et al. (2013) mentioned that Six-Sigma is a customer based, top-down managed, strategically aligned and fact drove analysis. It requires a trained workforce in order to solve the predominantly complex problem in the business process. Figure 2: Six-Sigma Framework (Source: Yeheyis et al. 2013) In order to implement six sigma models, Xerox Company needs to develop dedicated infrastructure. The company needs to concentrate on critical customer opportunity. The company needs to provide significant training to the employees so that they become capable of using six-sigma framework. The company needs to implement black belt improvement specialists. It is required to link the customer focus with the strategies and objectives of the organization. In order to implement Six Sigma model effectively in the organization, a streamlined value chain process in order to consistently supply high quality products and service to the. Figure 3: Effective implementation of DMAIC in the project framework of Xerox (Source: Solano et al. 2012) As Becker et al. (2013) stated that it will also help to improve speed and efficiency of the production. In order to eliminate process defects and reduce variation lean management system can be used. As Hajmohammad et al. (2013) stated that lean process helps to reduce waste and increase the speed of the manufacturing process of the organization. In order to analysis, the flow of materials and information from the customer to supplier and vice versa Value stream map can be used. There are five stages, in which company Xerox can apply Value Stream Map in the business process of the organization. These scenes are mentioned below: Stages Activities Stage 1 Step one is related to the identification of the target product and product family. In the case of company Xerox, the target product is the photocopy machines. Stage 2 Development of the current state value streams map, which will indicate immediate steps, delays that the company is facing to produce the target product or service. Stage 3 Assessing the current value stream map in order to create flow by eliminating waste Stage 4 Development of a future state of value streams map Stage 5 In the last stage, the company needs to develop the future state condition for the organization. Figure 4: Steps to implement value stream map (Source: Seuring 2013) Figure 5: Value stream map implementation in the company Xerox (Source: Agus et al. 2012) Relevance of the result and outcome Effective implementation of lean six sigma model will help the organization Xerox to understand the actual needs and values of customers. It is expected that effective implementation of Lean Six Sigma process can help to transform the organizational culture of Xerox positively. It is also expected that this lean Six Sigma process will also help to improve overall operating procedure of the with the help of fact-based, disciplined decision making and measurable outcomes. The combination of these powerful approaches will be implemented in the organization Xerox. It is expected that the lean procedure will increase the speed of production and lower the cost of production. It is expected that lean process will identify the non-value steps and other causes of delay for the organization Xerox. With the help of Value Stream Map analysis, the company will be able to cut down the causes of delay. On the other hand, effective implementation of Six-Sigma process can improve the organizational culture. The practical implication of DMAIC process can help to eliminate variation from the production process and enhance performance on consumer CTQs. Effective implementation of this hybrid approach will contribute to reducing the production cost of the company by 30%. It is expected that the company will save approximately $1.2 million per annum by implementing lean six sigma model. Figure 6: Expected positive outcome Lean Six Sigma model (Source: Conger 2015) Project planning and Gantt chart In order to develop effective project plan, a workflow diagram has been given below: Figure 7: Workflow diagram for the project plan (Source: Author) Three major review points for this research work are such as gathering information about the key issues of the organization, analyzing previous research work to find out different approaches to solving operational issues of the company. The third one is the development of a hybrid model (combination of 2 or more than two models) to solve the issues faced by the organization. All these tasks are planned to be conducted within 16 weeks (1 semester). There is a Gantt chart given below to demonstrate a proper plan to carry out this research. Figure 8: Gantt chart for the project plan (Source: Author) Conclusion In this report, it has been discussed how a manufacturing company such as Xerox can improve its production process. It has been found that the company has not given required focus on the quality of production and waste management procedure. For this reason, the company is not able to cope up with its competitors such as Kodak. From various previous research works, it has been found that tools such as lean management and Six-Sigma model can be used effectively to improve the business operation of an organization. Hence, a hybrid model will be used (lean six sigma) in the business operation of the company Xerox. It is estimated that this hybrid approach will help the company to reduce its production cost by 30%. Reference list Agus, A. and Shukri Hajinoor, M., 2012. Napoleons Strategy and Tactics in His Invasion of Russia

Table of Contents Introduction Napoleon’s Strategy and Tactics Conclusion Annotated Bibliography Introduction Napoleon was a great emperor of France with novel military strategies and tactics that enabled him to conquer his enemies and neighboring empires in a bid to expand his territory. His determination to win battles came from his confession that â€Å"there is no man more pusillanimous than I when I am planning a campaign.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Napoleon’s Strategy and Tactics in His Invasion of Russia specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More I purposely exaggerate all the dangers and all the calamities that the circumstances make possible†¦I am like an unmarried girl laboring with child† (Nafziger 1989, 23). He derived his military strategies and tactics from inherent fears that kept him on toes due to the imminent battles that revolved in the neighboring empires. The fea rs of losing a battle were constantly haunting him and this prompted him to draw novel strategies and tactics to overcome his enemies. During the great battle of Borodino when he attacked Russia, he demonstrated his military potential and ability to conquer ferocious enemies despite their military prowess. Critical analysis of Napoleon’s strategies and tactics show that his military approach to the decisive Russian battle was quite effective and is still invaluable in contemporary warfare. Napoleon’s Strategy and Tactics Although Napoleon exercised his military powers during the early 19th century, his strategies and tactics are still applicable in the 21st century. According to Nafziger, â€Å"†¦his campaigns formed the basis of military education throughout the western world and a lot of military thinking is still influenced by the great Frenchman† (1989, 26). Since his military strategies and tactics have stood the test of time, which is about two centur ies now, and can still prove to be invaluable in this era of great technology, then it shows that his military skills were and still are quite effective. The effectiveness of military strategies and tactics depends on the ability of military commander to mobilize his armies and resources effectively. Napoleon applied time and space as the components of logistics that are necessary to win a decisive battle when he invaded Russia in 1812. By 1812, Napoleon had led France to become a mighty empire in Europe and he boasted the great achievement that he had made. Given the military status of the French Empire, Napoleon was poised to invade and conquer the independent states of Europe. To achieve his mission, â€Å"he managed to destroy the unity of purpose which had fed the coalitions against France for so long, as Austria, Russia and Prussia were now ready to fight each other as well as to fight France† (Tarle Viktorovich 1979, 356).Advertising Looking for term paper on his tory? Therefore, he employed the tactic of dividing and conquering. The unique strategy that Napoleon employed as a military commander is the use of military professionalism. Many of his successors regard Napoleon as premier general who conceptualized new strategies and tactics in terms of structure and composition of strong armies; impregnable in the face of threatening enemies. â€Å"Napoleon embodied the idea of the professional military leader, not gaining his position through familial or political connection, but earning it by distinguishing himself in combat† (Hoffman 2005, 122). In his military professionalism, Napoleon took two years in mak ing logistical planning to invade Russia, for he realized that decisive battles demanded proper logistics. Due to his logistical approach to battles, many generals have appreciated his approach and have applied his strategies and tactics, which have proved to give consistent successes in various wars. His presence during war made great difference, as he was indispensable in mobilization of resources and troops. Since Napoleon harbored many fears concerning his great empire, which he had managed to hold together through immense challenges, he wanted to guard it jealously without overlooking any possible threats albeit negligible. Napoleon argues that, â€Å"†¦when I am planning a campaign, I purposely exaggerate all the danger and all calamities that circumstances make possible† (Olszewski 2005, 32). This strategy gave him the advantage in case the potential threat of the enemy was underestimated. During the Russia invasion, Napoleon never at any instance overlooked or un derestimated the battle and consequences that arose, for in his logistical skills, he provided for the worst-case scenarios that were bound to occur in decisive battles like Russia invasion that cost the lives of many soldiers. Primary strategy of Napoleon was to identify the enemy. Identifying the location, composition, and structure of the enemies highlighted any possible threats and imminent calamities, which were very critical in determining whether to go ahead with the battle or not. If the battle was inevitable, then effective strategies and tactics were necessary to combat the enemy.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Napoleon’s Strategy and Tactics in His Invasion of Russia specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Hardeman (2006) notes that, â€Å"when facing a foe superior in numbers, the strategy of the central position was employed to split the enemy into separate parts, each of which could then be eliminated in turn by adroit maneuvering†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (175). With this strategy, though overwhelmed by the Russian armies, Napoleon armies managed to kill more of them as compared to their armies who died in the decisive battle. In this case, central position strategy proved useful in combating armies who were mightier while incurring minimal losses and injuries. Napoleon also utilized the strategy of Battalion Square and the tactic of outflanking his enemies. The Battalion Square consisted of an advance guard, which was to identify the enemy, right and left wings who acted as combating troops that marched within the range where they could offer emergency support to both advancing and reserved troops. At the rear end of the advancing army was a reserved troop, which provided extra support in case the advance troop retreated. Rainey argues that, â€Å"Napoleon could use a mere part of his force to tie down and occupy the attention of one enemy, then rapidly move his remaining force s to build up a local superiority against his enemies† (2006, 158). When Napoleon had built local superiority, he employed the tactic of flanking to combat the Russian armies who were too strong for him to conquer, but at least he demonstrated artful military combat. Conclusion Despite the astounding defeat that Napoleon met during his war against Russia, he demonstrated logistical strategies and tactics that many generals consider artful and worth acquiring in the current generation. Napoleon left military legacy as his successors credit him a military genius who made great impact in military reforms and shaped the approaches of decisive battles. His strategies and tactics still echo through 21st century since military academies recognize and approve them as effective and worth learning. Although Napoleon armies terribly suffered after invading Russia, this does not mean that their strategies were ineffective; only that the Russian armies were many, organized, and smarter.
